As you may know, New York City is full of career opportunities. Not only is it fun to increase your connections within your network, you have the potential to meet lifelong friends. Meet friends in New York who are curious and interested in the same things that you are.

Sure, most people go to a coworking space to ‘work’ from. However, you never know, the person sitting beside you may just be open to connecting with you!
Commuting to a coffee shop, the atmosphere/vibes and being around people, actually make me far much more productive. Probably, it’s the whole ritual of getting out of the house.

This was one of the best decisions I made when It came to looking for a place to stay in New York City. I knew that my intention was to make friends in New York City. Staying in my own apartment or a hotel solo was a no-go.
I searched coliving accomodation in New York City into Google and I was shown shared accomodation spaces where you rent your own room in an apartment within a professional rental agency.
Pretty much, as soon as I saw the photos from the Outpost Club, I knew that this was where I would be living in New York City.
Outpost Coliving offers shared communal spaces like a gym and co-working areas. From the day I moved in, I was met with friendly faces who were open to the same thing- making new friends in New York City. Furthermore, they offer free monthly events for the Outpost Coliving residents such as games nights, parties and at-home movie nights within their coliving building ammenties.

Do things that make you happy and be open
In my opinion, one of the most fun ways to make new friends is by going to events that you are interested in and by doing the things that make you happy/ keep you in your element.
Go out to events and hobbies that you enjoy.
Hobbies and ideas to attend to make friends in New York City:
- Fitness classes such as pilates, gym and dance classes
- Workshops that interest you
- Community events
- Follow like-minded influencers and creatives in NYC as they sometimes share events and host events of their own
Reach out to friends you know who are already living in New York City
Lastly, if you want to make friends in New York City, have a think if you already know some friends who are living in the city. Think about any friends who you met in high school or as you or they traveled the world that are already here.
For example, last week I caught up with my lovely friend Reanna from high school. We shared, if you told us 10 years ago that we would be chatting in Central Park together, we would’nt have believed it! At least we would have been a lil stunned haha.
