Booking Flights

Jetstar

Jetstar is my go-to for inexpensive flights from Australia to destinations around Australia. They also offer cheap flights from Australia to one of my personal fave countries, Bali, Indonesia.

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a great travel app to find cheap flights to anywhere in the world. I love using this app to research the cheapest flights for long-distance travel from Australia.

Planning and Booking Your Accommodation

I love using these travel apps to find beautiful places to stay all around the world. They are also a great way to find cheap accommodation for long-term stays.

Airbnb

Airbnb is great travel app for finding beautiful accommodations, homestays and cheap monthly stays in places like Southeast Asia.

Hostelworld for Hostels

Great for finding Hostels around the world.

Booking.com

A travel app that you can use to book your hotel, apartment, resort or villa.

Agoda

One of my best friends first recommended this travel app to me. I then booked a stay in Bali through Agoda and got a great deal. I was also really happy with my stay. You can find some great deals for accommodation on Agoda.

Best Travel Apps

Finding and Booking Travel Activities & Experiences

Klook

You can find all kinds of fun tours & experiences on Klook for an affordable price.

GetYourGuide

GetYourGuide is another trusted website that I have booked experiences through such as Nusa Penida Snorkelling with Manta Rays Tour.

Transportation

Gojek for transport in Bali

Gojek is a very affordable way to get around Bali via a scooter driven by a local driver. This travel app is my go-to for hiring, reliable local drivers to get me to where I want to go in Bali.

Uber

Uber is great for transport when you don’t have a car, when you would not like to take public transport or when public transport is not accessible. It can be a more expensive option. However, it is always handy to have. Uber operates in 72 countries around the world.

Flixbus

This is an awesome, cheap way to travel through Europe via Bus. You can travel from country to country, for example, from Berlin to Prague for as little as 17.99!

Currency Conversion and Travel Money Accounts

Wise

If you are looking for a way to transfer your currency to the local currency of your destination, I can recommend Wise. You can order a physical debit card and also a digital card to pay via Apple Pay. With Wise, you can send money around the world at the real exchange rate, with low conversion fees.

XE Currency

XE Currency is a travel app to use for currency conversion that lets you check live foreign currency exchange rates. I have not used this personally for sending money, but they do allow the option for you to send international money transfers.

Finding and Researching Places to Eat

TripAdvisor

When you are searching for the best places to eat at your destination, I recommend using this travel app as a good reference. It’s great for receiving a good selection of ideas for places to eat and browsing their reviews.

Food from my most recent trip to Bali. You can check out Your Ultimate Guide to Solo Travel in Bali on my Blog post here.

Where to Find Free Accommodation

If you love pets, house-sitting is a great option for you! You can find short-term and long-term house and pet sits. You get to stay in the owner’s house for free in exchange for looking after their pets. This is an amazing way to see the world or even your own country while saving money on accommodation.

Trusted House Sitters

Receive 25% off your membership when you sign up through my link! Trusted House Siiters is a travel app that you can be use to find House and pet sits all over the world.

Mindahome

Mindahome can be used to find House and pet sits only in Australia.

It’s been so long since I’ve gone on a real vacation. I’m hoping I can do a getaway in December near Christmas. I’ll most likely go visit my daughter in Kansas. I use Waze maps bc it tracks my drive and alerts for construction, debris in the road, accidents, slow downs, cops, and even broken down cars on the side of the highway.
